Tuition

To simplify the tuition payment process, and to insure that we can continue to operate as a school, we have decided to begin a flat monthly-rate payment system, rather than a lesson by lesson.  This means that your payment will not go up or down depending on the number of lessons you attend during the month/semester.  Exceptions are made during the summer.  If you miss a lesson or two due to an emergency, we will always do our best to make it up, but beyond 2 or so a year, it becomes extremely difficult. Again, exceptions are made during the summer.

We do not require our students to purchase books and materials. We usually provide these at our own expense. We also incur some risk by allowing our students (even the very young ones) to use expensive electronics and a PA system.  When a student breaks something, we do not require the parents to replace it.

Private Lessons

Our lessons are intended to be private, so if you are waiting for your student, sibling or you are the next student, please use our waiting room upstairs.  Feel free to play with any toys or read any books you like!  If you are uncomfortable leaving your child alone, or you have any other reason to accompany your child during their lesson (i.e. it is a very fun thing for all of you, or you are actively helping your child to practice at home) please feel free to accompany your child.  However, most students bond more with their teacher, and subsequently work harder at their music, when lessons are allowed to be private. Remember, when a parent is in a room with the student, the student sees the parent as the authority, not the teacher.  This policy should also insure that when your child’s lesson time begins, there will not be another family getting themselves ready to leave in the same room while your child begins his or her private lesson.
